Renewable Water

Water exists in a “Water Cycle” that manifests fractally at many different levels and scales – from the global climatic cycle of evaporation, cloud formation, and precipitation to more micro level versions of drawing water from a well, drinking it and disposing of it into a toilet or local stream.

When we draw water for commercial, industrial or domestic use we make it dirty. Water is cleansed of its contaminants as it passes through the Water Cycle so it can be drawn and used again.

The fact that used water is constantly recycled through the Water Cycle is both a blessing and a curse.

It is a curse because if there is no means to treat and clean used water by removing contaminants added during water use, then water resources themselves become so contaminated that they are eventually unusable.

It is a blessing because of the nature of the relationship between the Water Cycle and the Nutrient Cycle means we have the opportunity to recycle our water, re-assimilate the contaminants/nutrients and reuse it as much as we want if we create the environment and conditions to do so.

It is this “blessed” relationship between the Water Cycle and the Nutrient Cycle that offers the escape route to avert a catastrophic Global Water Crisis.
