Anaerobic Digestion is particularly sensitive to pH and is effectively inhibited at pH below 6.5. Too low a pH is a common problem in anaerobic digestion.
In this case we were able to correct pH and raise it into the ideal range within 7 days.
By correcting pH, we are able to address other parameters such as VFA’s, VFA/Alkalinity ratio and FOGs, that are all critical to effective performance of anaerobic processing units.
This graph shows the significant improvement in digestion as illustrated by the 94% reduction in Volatile Fatty Acidss and 96% reduction in Fats, Oil and Greases.
This in turn delivered a 92% reduction in VFA/Alkalinity ratio, bringing this into the ideal range.
