This plant was about 33% overloaded hydraulically, but about 100% overloaded organically. This case is an interesting one because before the delivery of the SIS.bio solution, the blockage in the Nitrogen processing pathway was so clearly illustrated by the data.
Samples for analysis were taken from the inflow to the final clarifiers from the treatment units ie this is not final discharged treated effluent.
Initially, TKN is 54mg/l, Ammonia is at 36mg/l and Nitrate is virtually non-existent at 0.7mg/l. So while the plant was technically compliant for Nitrate, it was way out of limits for Ammonia because the denitrification leg of Nitrogen processing was blocked.
By Day 13 this blockage had been resolved as illustrated by the dramatic drop in TKN and Ammonia and the surge in Nitrate.
Over time compliance for discharged treated effluent was achieved and maintained for all parameters.
